Sonshine Puppets offer a Workshop style learning experience in either:

Description of Workshops:
Workshops are designed to meet the requirements of the school for timetables and numbers of students.

All Workshops can be tailored to suit the existing skills and ages of students. Sonshine Puppets is able to offer advanced skills for any group who is proficient at all basic skills.

All workshops are �hands in�! Best learning is done by doing. Every student has the opportunity to perform with a �moving mouth� puppet provided by Sonshine Puppets for the Workshop.

There is an emphasis on music (Christian) as it gives the easiest base to work from as an introduction tool for learning the puppetry skills as well as it sets a tempo tone appreciated by students and teachers alike.

Note: Sonshine Puppets can offer Workshops teaching advanced puppetry skills where basic skills already exist and have been previously mastered.

Goal of Workshops:
To provide children the opportunity to be personally expressive through making puppets come to life.

To provide opportunity for students to learn basic puppetry skills. (Advanced skills can be offered where basic skills have already been mastered.)

To deposit in students an excitement and desire to continue learning and developing the tool of puppetry long after Sonshine Puppets have departed from your school.

Workshop Content:
Let our �hands in� Workshop style training develop the following areas of puppetry:
  • Making Your puppet �talk� ( lip synch)
  • Basic Movement (entrances & exits)
  • How to bring your puppet to life (puppet manipulation)
  • Voices (for live skits)

1 day or 2 day program:
  • 1 day program of training Workshops
Sonshine Puppets supply all �moving mouth� puppets for every student participating in the Workshop. Basic skills are instructed and demonstrated, after which all students place a puppet on their hand and repeat the exercises to achieve the skills.

  • 2 day program of training Workshops and a concert
Sonshine Puppets supply all �moving mouth� puppets for every student participating in the Workshop. Basic skills are instructed and demonstrated, after which all students place a puppet on their hand and repeat the exercises to achieve the skills.
Concert items are introduced, parts allocated and practised. Working in a stage is also part of this exercise.

The conclusion of a 2 day workshop with Sonshine Puppets culminates in a concert! All students who have attended the 2 days will have the opportunity to perform their puppetry skills to their peers, parents, and staff.
  • Bonus
With a 2 day program Sonshine Puppets offer Professional Development for Teachers training Workshop for 45 minutes at the conclusion of day 1.
Content:
Ways to use Puppets in the classroom � help students resolve conflict peacefully, express clearly, overcome shyness and public speaking. All this while having fun too!

Requirements:
A CD player and appropriate sound equipment for all Workshops.

For a 1 day Workshop - a room to accommodate a maximum of 30 students.

For a 2 day Workshop - a room to accommodate a maximum of 30 students as well as an assembly area large enough for the concert.
